Our Teachers
Great facilities can enhance the learning experience, but at the end of the day it all comes down to teachers. They're the ones with the student day in and day out, nurturing, guiding them good choices, and opening the path to lifelong learning.
At our Early Learning Center, talented and passionate educators put children's needs at the center of every day. Organized in four tight-knit Casas (houses)–A, B, C, D, E and F–the Early Childhood Education staffs every class with one English Montessori teacher, one Chinese Montessori teacher, one Virtues teacher, and one assistant teacher.
All lead teachers are highly trained, with a minimum of five years of teaching experience. Each teacher holds an early childhood teaching certificate, and Montessori teachers also hold an additional AMS, AMI, NAMC certificate for Montessori professional qualifications.
At Elementary School, we are fortunate to have incredibly dedicated foreign and Chinese teachers–all licensed and highly qualified. Their commitment is second to none, and we enjoy a very low level of turnover.
Daystar teachers have a minimum of five years of teaching experience, and share a commitment to building mastery in English and Chinese, as well as the IBPYP learner attributes. To achieve that, English and Chinese teachers work together to provide maintain parity in both languages as students advance.
Each homeroom is supported by a dedicated bilingual paraeducator who provides learning support for students and teachers.
Most of our math teachers have been with Daystar Academy for at least 6 years, and have closely monitored the students’ progress throughout their development. Finally, our special-subject teachers in Physical Education, Music and Art are also enthusiastic and passionate about helping students achieve a high level of excellence.
Our secondary faculty all have multiple years of secondary teaching experience. Teachers ensure that students thrive within the IBMYP and IBDP framework, guiding them to become independent learners who strive to make a difference in the world.
